BROAD BEANS SUPER AGUADULCE
Botanical name: Vicia faba
Mid-season variety for fresh and dry consumption
The broed beens Super Aguadulce variety stands out for its consistent yield, large tender seeds, and excellent quality for fresh consumption. Ideal for autumn sowing and spring harvest, it offers a product of high culinary value for both fresh and dry markets.
The plant is vigorous, reaching a height of 80–100 cm (and up to 110–120 cm in fertile soils), and produces broad, green pods about 25 cm long, each containing 6–7 large, light-green seeds with a tender texture and rich flavor.
Sowing takes place in autumn, as broad beans germinate easily at soil temperatures around 5°C. The variety shows good tolerance to cold but requires protection from severe frost.
Harvesting for fresh consumption is done manually, while industrial use (canning/freezing) involves specialized machinery. Dry beans are harvested when the plant is fully dried.
